How to avoid red wine stains on your lips and mouth?
The problem with red wine is that when you drink it, it shows. I mean, who hasn't ended up with nasty marks on their lips and teeth? So here are a few precautionary gestures that will save you from going to the toilet every 5 minutes to check the state of your mouth and allow you to flirt without depriving yourself of your glass of wine (sometimes indispensable in this kind of situation).
Avoid the "big red stain".
If you are the one who has the privilege of choosing the wine on the menu, you should know that there is a perfect trick to limit the risks of repulsive violet lips and black teeth: that of choosing a wine that is not very tannic. This is because it is the tannin, the substance found in the grape skin, that colours the teeth. So you won't take many risks by choosing a light and fruity wine such as a Gamay de Loire or Beaujolais or a Pinot Noir from Burgundy. Lip balm is your best friend
The one thing you don't necessarily think about when you're going out on a drunken night out is staying hydrated. And if this advice is essential to avoid the famous "hangover" of the next day, it also applies to the lips. So always try to keep a lip balm in your pocket and remember to apply it to your lips at least three times in the evening: before drinking, during and afterwards. This should seriously reduce the risk of getting nasty little purple spots on your lips.
What about teeth?
Lip balm is good, but it doesn't solve the teeth problem. And you have to admit that red stains on white is not very sexy either, or even worse! Here again, you have to have the right reflex: drink water before and during. If that's not enough, try a slice of lemon or sparkling water. You can also rub your teeth with sugar (or honey if you are at home) diluted with a little water. Finally, to avoid any risk of stains persisting the next day, remember to brush your teeth before going to bed ;)
